It’s contagious !

We are in the middle of a pandemic and we all know that the virus is high contagious. To ensure your safety please make sure that you are following public health guidelines. Wear a mask, stay 2 meters apart and wash your hands frequently.

However do you know what else is contagious and that you get it from a phone call, a text or a zoom meeting. This is something you want to catch. It’s enthusiasm, and you gotta love it when someone shares their’s with you. That book that they have just read now becomes irresistible thanks to their overwhelming enthusiasm. You just have to check out that new movie or series that they can’t stop taking about. I could not write a post like this without including Crossfit. Once you have gone to a box and attended a class you will understand that yes the workouts are hard but it’s the people that keep you coming back.

Let’s all spread some good vibes today. Enthusiasm is contagious so make sure to spread it far and wide.
Have a wonderful day.

Enthusiasm

Enrich your life

The common expression goes something like this ” You will be the same person in five years except for the people you meet, the places you will go and the books you will read”. Well since we are currently in the middle of a pandemic, that will cross out the 1st two. So there has never been a better time to pick up a book and read.

The greatest minds were and are avid readers. The documented history of the human race is available to you in the printed form, and here are some great examples. They help you improve your self. You can learn lessons for those who have been though the same thing as you are going though, and no you are not the only one in your current situation. Reading improves your focus, your memory, is good for your emotional health and is a great source of motivation. Un like television, reading actually makes you smarter.

Use this time at home wisely. Reduce the hours that you watch TV or youtube and pick up a book. I would recommend going with the old fashioned physical book but you can also do it with an e-reader. If you are not sure where to start, go to Goodreads and enter all the books that you have read before and look at the suggestions for what to read next. Make sure to friend me on Goodreads so we can share our reading lists.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

Dig deep!

Often with clients it’s necessary to ask them tough questions about their personal and financial situation. This is because we need to know in advance of sending their file off for approval if there are any possible roadblocks or issues that need to be addressed. You see I would prefer to know of anything that may prevent the client from getting approved so it can be dealt with prior to getting any surprises from a lender.

Getting to know my clients and getting as much as possible upfront allows the process to be much smoother for the client, the broker and the lender. Sure there are lenders who will approve files with just the application and the credit bureau but why run the risk of getting into trouble as you move toward funding.

In most cases this is the largest financial decision of your lives. So dealing with a competent broker is in your best interest. So if you have had past bankruptcies, consumer proposals, was married but now divorced, gifted down payment, co signed a loan for a friend or just started working for your self. These are all things that could impact your ability to get a mortgage.

My goal is to help you get into your first home or your dream home. Getting to know the real you is part of the process to making this happen.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

Surprises are the best!

I have to say that unexpected surprises are the best. I just received one from a colleague and it totally changes your mood to your day. If haven’t been on the receiving end lately then I suggest that you become the giver and it will do you more good than you could imagine. Bring your significant other a present ( flowers are nice) or pay for the order for the car behind you in the drive through. Seeing their faces light up will make you forget about all your worries at least for a moment and we all need more of that right now. Try and let me know how it goes.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

Plan Ahead!

As the common expression goes ” If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail”. Since today is Sunday, it is the day the highly organized plan for their upcoming week. Athletes that I know call this meal prep Sunday where they prepare the meals for the upcoming week so it’s just one less thing to worry about during the week. They also plan their training for the week ahead.

Burnout is just another way of saying decision fatigue. You get to a point in your day where you are mentally spent from having made too many unplanned decisions. Steve Jobs notoriously wore the same outfit so it was one less thing that he had to decide on for his day.

Start slowly by planning what you will be wearing for the next day by laying it out the night before. I have been doing this for years and it saves a lots of time. Then if you are so adventurous plan the start of your morning. Including the time you will get up, your morning meditation or exercise routine, meal then right up till you start work.

By planning your day, it will make it easier for you to hit the objectives for your week, your month and your year. What every your objective it, plan ahead and break it down so it is more obtainable.

If your plan is to buy your next home, your dream home or refinance your current home let me know as I would love to help you reach your goal.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

Work in progress

Let’s face it, we are all in some way or another a work in progress. Always striving to improve and better ourselves. We want to be in better shape, make more money, have a better relationship, get out of debt, learn a second language, travel the world or better yet learn more and faster.

If you believe you are the way you are and nothing can change that, you need to read Mindset by Dr Carol Dweck. We all have the capacity to grow and improve, you just have to learn the right strategies.

You want to run a marathon, start by walking, then jogging then running short distances and build up from there. The best way could be to do it for a good cause like this one.

You want to make more money, focus on being excellent at what you do now. Excellence has a way of getting noticed and getting promoted.

Want a better relationship, love yourself first then treat others how you want to be treated.

You want to get out of debt, you need YNAB. Nothing is better at helping you get in control of your money.

If learning a second language is on your list, consider starting with Duolingo. It’s great and helping me keep my french alive.

If traveling the world is on your bucket list, I would seriously wait until our current COVID-19 pandemic is behind us. In the mean time you can go to the local book store and start picking up travel guides.

This one is easy if you want learn more and faster, then stop watching tv and replace that time with reading. Start with a few pages or 15 minutes a day and go from there. Pretty soon you are reading a book a week. There is nothing better.

Now if you want to get into first home or your dream home, then I am your guy. In my 19 years of doing this I have encountered almost every type of scenario.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

Just 1% better!

Many of us want to make massive improvements in our lives. Weather it’s getting in shape, making or saving more money or improving your relationships. Sometimes you think that the prospect of acheiving those goals is too monumental. You could be right if you are tying to do it all at once. Remember the expression ” Rome wasn’t built in a day”, and neither were you.

However what if you break it down and start small. Start by just focusing on improving 1% better today and doing another 1% tomorrow.

So if it is 1 push up today, it’s 2 tomorrow.

5 min walk today, then increase that by another 1% tomorrow. Then soon you will be jogging and eventually running if that is your goal.

Want to ready more books this year, start by reading 1 page a day. Soon you will be finishing books in no time at all.

Drowning in debt, start by making more than the minimum payments on one debt. Once that is paid off then put that money towards the next one, and the next one till you are paid off.

Want to buy your first place, start by putting money aside for the down payment. A little bit at a time plus the power of compound interest and you will get there quickly.

Small and simple actions repeated every day lead to big results. That 1% improvement today, is 100% improvement after 100 days. Start small, and you can do this.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

The Power of a Deadline

Isn’t it amazing how much you can accomplish when you know that it absolutely has to get done. It could be the term paper that is due the next day, the taxes that need to be filed or the rent that is due the end of the month. When faced with a hard deadline things just seem to get done. At this point failure is not an option and excused be damned, you are laser focused on the end result. This is the time for massive action.

What have you been putting off that you could be doing now? Did you make a goal to finely get in shape this year, and just realized that it is now February and all you do is work and watch tv. Did you say that you this will be the year that you are better at managing your money, yet you are still living pay check to pay check. Or better yet, you said that this was the year that you moved out of your parents basement.

Well Carpe Diem, today’s the day that you set a hard dead line for your goals and tell all your friends just so you are held accountable. Start with a few push-ups, sit-ups or a 5 min walk. Open up a TSFA, set up automatic deposit and delete Amazon or any shopping apps off of your phone. Start saving for a down payment or for the apartment. Do something today that moves the needle forward.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.

Just breathe

Sometimes when you find yourself in a stressful situation, you need to focus on the one thing you can actually control and that is your breath. The past is gone and the future hasn’t happened yet. Pause for a second and count out 5 breaths, long and deep breaths too. There doesn’t that feel better.

I look forward to hearing from you in regards to your mortgage needs.
